Football predictions – Barcelona vs Sevilla – Copa del Rey
The hour 20:30 is expecting us with the Barcelona vs Sevilla encounter, at Vicente Calderon stadium, in a game where both teams are looking to win their second trophy this year.
Barcelona is currently the team dominating Spanish football, as they’ve just managed to conquer their 6th trophy in the past 8 years, making it the 24th for the club’s trophy cabinet. They have been just as strong in Copa del Rey as with an eventual victory against Sevilla, they will lift their 28th “King’s trophy”. The “Blaugrana” side faced some rough time in the previous month but they managed to put an end to their skid and win 5 consecutive games while keeping clean sheets in order to win the La Liga once again. Barca had quite an easy route towards this final, knocking out teams like Villanovense, Espanyol, Bilbao or Valencia, scoring a total of 25 goals and only conceding 5 in the process. Luis Enrique will send in his best starting eleven, with the exception of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo who is slightly injured, but Marc Andre ter Stegen is as solid a pick.
“When you are playing a final, you always need to be at full capacity. Knowing our opponent very well, I know that we will prepare this game to the very minute. This is a final game against a very outstanding club, but we are confident we can lift the trophy.” stated Rakitic for mundodeportivo.com.
Sevilla has just written history after managing to lift the Europa League title once again, being the only team that did this three times in a row. The team did not impress this year in Primera Division, finishing only on the 7th position but they made up for this bad internal season with an European triumph and now they seek to get the second trophy this season. Sevilla cruised past every single team so far in Copa del Rey: Logrones, Real Betis, Mirandes or Celta Vigo, with remarkable evolutions, having scored 22 goals and only conceded 2 goals. We also have to mention the fact that throughout all of the 7 games before Celta Vigo, Sevilla kept only clean sheets. With a success tonight, the Andalusian team will get their 6th Copa del Rey trophy, the most recent one being in 2009-2010. Unai Emery will not be able to rely on Reyes, Tremoulinas and Krohn-Dehli tonight, as they are all unavailable due to injuries.
“We are motivated and eager to play. We expect all of the fans that couldn’t make it to Basel to come and support us in Madrid. It is a new challenge and we are ready to take it – we can defeat any team.” said Emery confident at his press conference for marca.com.
Ter Stegen – Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba – Rakitic, Busquets, Iniesta – Neymar, Suarez, Messi
Rico – Mariano, Rami, Carrico, Escudero – Krychowiak, Iborra – Vitolo, Banega, Coke – Gameiro
The past encounters between these two have always brought the best in football, proof of that being that in the last 9 H2H games, goals have been scored by both teams and every game had at least 3 goals scored. The two sides have met twice in La Liga this season, splitting the victories, but also in the Uefa Supercup, back where they drew 4-4 in regular time at the end of an exquisite comeback from the team in Seville. Unfortunately for them, they lost in additional time, but they are expected to take their revenge tonight and perhaps even upset Barcelona in what’s going to be another goal galore.
