We had two very disputed Euroleague semifinals, but the two teams that played the best basketball throughout this competition the entire season got the much deserved victory. Both having scored 88 points in the semifinals are now going to go head to head in the arena from Berlin!
CSKA Moscova vs Fenerbahce Ulker
- Will the team from Moscow finally break free of their curse? After the 2008 triumph, the Russian side took part in 2 other Euroleague finals, losing both of them, first in Berlin (2009) and then in Istanbul (2012). Destiny has a funny way of showing and it seems that in the 2016 final, a common denominator has been produced between these two big upsets for the Moscow club, as the final is taking place once again in the German capital and the opposing side on the court for them will be none other than Istanbul’s finest team, Fenerbahce Ulker. The fact that coach Obradovic’s team has only dropped a game in the Euroleague after they made certain of their qualification from the #1 seed speaks volumes of the team’s chemistry, who has been by far the most dominant on the offensive glass this season.
“The way we won in the semifinals was nothing surprising. If you watched us play this year, we have been down before in the fourth quarter and pulled out wins. Tomorrow is a new game. Two best teams going at it. Be ready, get your popcorn ready, all that. Their strengths is their guard play, De Colo and Teodosic. We got to be ready.” ~ Ekpe Udoh, Fenerbahce starter.
